Formal up front, modern out back

Minneapolis, MN

With Bluestem Remodeling

The existing Palladian neo-classical facade fronts a traditional square-around-the-stair layout typical of her 1910’s era. Lovely! though the 5’ x 8’ kitchen was lacking for… everything the homeowners needed.

The owner’s aimed to maximize built-area dedicated to a new kitchen & owner’s suite; and if we can make a basement golf-simulator work too, fantastic.

Spoiler: we made it all work. A 12’ rear addition stacked the new Owner’s Bed & Bath over Kitchen & Mudroom, on top of the new basement golf simulator. A main-level powder room and future butler’s pantry have been backfilled into the former kitchen footprint, with bi-parting double patio doors opening the entertainer’s kitchen to the spacious deck and verdant landscape beyond.
